BLEL Dare Graduation Held

Bloomsdale Elementary hosted a Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) graduation on January 25, 2018. The program was for 5th-grade students who completed the D.A.R.E. program. A total of 41 graduates participated in the 10-week program. D.A.R.E. Officer Deputy Jeff McCarty welcomed guests, shared an overview of the program and introduced guest speaker, Mr. Brandon Moulton. D.A.R.E. Officers Deputy Jeff McCarty, Deputy Stephanie Memhardt and Staff Sergeant Jason Finch, presented the essay winners. The essay contest included three winners from each 5th-grade class; the first place winner in each class read their essay to the audience.

The essay winners were:
  • Mrs. Reiss – 1st: Brylee Smith, 2nd: Madison Henson, 3rd: Joleigh Parker
  • Mrs. Rapp – 1st: Kailynn Harmon, 2nd: Kale Clements, 3rd: Henry Birkenstock
This year, each 5th-grade class had the opportunity and created their own D.A.R.E. design for their t-shirts. The students enjoyed the creativity behind this project and wore their shirts to the graduation.
5th-grade students were presented graduation awards by Mrs.Janel Reiss, Mrs. Kimberly Rapp, and Dare Officers Jeff McCarty, Jason Finch and Stephanie Memhardt. Also in attendance, were Sheriff Gary Stolzer and Chief Deputy Major Jason Schott.
The graduates performed the D.A.R.E. song to the audience then enjoyed refreshments with their class and family.
