Ste. Genevieve R-II School District named the new softball pavilion at Leon’s Field in memory of Lindsay R. Roth on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. At the dedication ceremony, Jeff Nix, SG R-II Athletic Director, spoke about Lindsay’s life. Lindsay loved sports; playing softball, volleyball, and basketball. Her favorite sport was softball and although she played many positions, catching was her primary position. Lindsay played for Ste. Genevieve High School, the Ste. Genevieve Merchants (a summer team), and the Royals (a traveling team in St. Louis).
Lindsay loved working with kids. She was the director of Summer Camp at the Ste. Genevieve County Community Center for years. She also taught first grade at Ste. Genevieve Elementary and kindergarten at Bloomsdale Elementary. Wanda Roth, Lindsa
y’s mother, shared one of Lindsay’s favorite quotes: “Be the person that makes others feel special. Be known for your kindness and grace.” At the end of the dedication ceremony, the crowd counted down from 13, Lindsay’s softball number, and the family released balloons into the sky.
