Wade Hahn Rides for Community Counseling Foundation

Ste. Genevieve High School senior, Wade Hahn will be cycling from St. Louis to Florida (almost 900 miles) in order to raise funds for the Community Counseling Foundation Board, an organization that promotes depression and suicide awareness. Wade explains, “I’ve had a lot of friends and family with these problems so I figured while I am doing something I’ve always wanted to do, I would use it to support a cause close to me.”  The Community Counseling Foundation Board serves five local counties and is based in Cape Girardeau. Their largest event is a Suicide Conference held in July. Professionals in the counseling field, families affected by depression and suicide, people who have attempted suicide, clergy and police officers are some of the over 800 people invited to attend the conference. The conference is an opportunity for all these people to come together and discuss ways to increase awareness of depression and suicide.

Numerous fundraisers are set to take place for this amazing cause; Wade has even received help and support from Cape Cycling. We are extremely proud of Wade for his commitment to helping those affected by depression.  All of the funds raised will go straight to the Community Counseling Foundation Board. Wade insists on using his own money to fund his cycling trip, he just hopes that it can be a launching pad to spread the word about this terrible issue and hopefully save a life. Wade’s motto, “I’ll keep riding, so you keep fighting.”

Wade plans to document his trip through YouTube. If you would like to help him in his fight for others, you can contact Brandy Henderson at Ste. Genevieve High School (573) 883-4500.  She will be happy to give you more information on how you can help, including how to make a tax-deductible donation. For more information on the Community Counseling Foundation, please go to their website at http://www.cccntr.com/Foundation/.   We are so proud of you, Wade!  Forever a Dragon!
