Robert R. “Bob” Rottler, Class of 1947

IMG_0512Mr. Rottler was a successful area businessman and community leader. As a youth, he was an Eagle Scout, and an outstanding student and athlete at Ste. Genevieve High School. In his professional life, Mr. Rottler was the founder and president of H & B Masonry Company. He was president of Farmington Building Supplies, Chairman of the Board of Silvanus Products, Chairman of the Bank of Bloomsdale, board member of the Centerre Bank of Crystal City, Director of the Southeast Missouri Masonry Contractors Association, a member of the Ste. Genevieve Planning and Zoning Board, Scoutmaster of the Boy Scout Troop 418, and a deacon and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Ste. Genevieve. Mr. Rottler served as past president of the Ste. Genevieve R-II Board of Education and was a school board member for two terms. Mr. Rottler was extremely generous to the community and was known to have helped out many people in time of need. He was also generous to the Ste. Genevieve School District, including being a major contributor to the renovations and expansions of the Ste. Genevieve High School Football Stadium and track. Former Ste. Genevieve R-II Superintendent Mikel Stewart said of Mr. Rottler, “Anytime Bob was asked for something for the school district, he never said no.” Mr. Rottler and his wife, Norma Jean, had four children, Terry, Steve, Marcia, and Julie.
