In 2015, the Ste. Genevieve County R-II School District was awarded funding through a competitive grant process called Missouri Preschool Program (MPP) through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). This grant is designated to promote high-quality early care and education programs for children. One preschool classroom grant was awarded at Bloomsdale Elementary. The second classroom grant was awarded at Ste. Genevieve Elementary. Each classroom serves up to 20 students with a certified Early Childhood Preschool Lead Teacher and a Preschool Teacher Assistant.
Preschool classrooms are full-day programs that operate Monday through Friday. Breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack while in attendance are included in the fee. The sliding fee scale will be based on families status. The current fees associated with each status used to determine the cost for a child to attend the preschool programs are:
- Free = Families who qualify for free lunches
- $10 per day = Families who qualify for reduced lunches
- $20 per day = Families who do not qualify for assistance
