On Monday, May 13, SGHS Future Farmers of America (FFA) students held their annual 1st Grade Mini Fair at the Ste. Genevieve Fairgrounds. For the past several years, first grade students from Ste. Genevieve Elementary and Valle have attended the event. This year was the first time Bloomsdale Elementary students jumped in on the fun! The FFA students and their co-sponsors Hannah Fritsche-Donze and Kelly Sulkowski set up stations under the big barn where the young students can learn about farming techniques, tools and farm animals, including various types of chickens, horses, goats, and much more! The FFA students actually bring in their own equipment and pets for the exposition.

“Even though we’re a small, rural town, some of these students have never seen a farm animal up close,” Mrs. Sulkowski says. “This is a neat opportunity for them to learn about a way of life they might not otherwise see.”
