Bloomsdale Elementary Holds Annual Career Day

While Career Day at Bloomsdale Elementary looked different this year, fifth grade students still had the opportunity to meet and learn from local businesses and organizations on Wednesday, Oct. 7. Safety precautions for our students and community members are a top priority, and thanks to careful planning and collaboration among staff and community members, the students experienced fun, informational sessions about possible careers!

Mrs. Rowland and the fifth grade faculty and students would like to thank the local businesses and professionals who took the time to talk with the fifth grade students about their respective careers: Bloomsdale Yoga, Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jeff McCarty, Missouri Conservation Department Agent Rob Sulkowski, Air Force Airman Nolan Klump, Bloomsdale Fire Department and the Ste. Genevieve County Ambulance District.

With the exception of a Zoom visit, sessions were located outdoors, and students and community members wore face coverings when unable to socially distance.

Each student was able to attend two sessions. Students learned about regulations for hunting and fishing, held animal hides, asked questions about how to join the armed forces and how airmen spent their time in service, practiced mindfulness and yoga, and learned about the various tools and equipment used by fire departments, EMTs, and sheriffs’ offices. The students enjoyed engaging with their visitors to learn about the variety of careers!
