Fire Department Teaches SGE Preschoolers About Fire Prevention

Recently, SGE preschoolers had the opportunity to learn about fire prevention!

On Tuesday, Oct. 6, Allen Schilli and Sarah Carlson from the Ozora Fire Department visited Mrs. Rose Kreitler’s preschool class to talk to the students about fire safety and to show them the gear on the truck. Mrs. Carlson, who is a Ste. Genevieve Elementary library aide, read the students a story about fire prevention, and they practiced what to do if their house is on fire, including crawling low to the ground and checking doors before opening them. They learned how to escape out a window and discussed having a safe gathering place outside to meet. Alan dressed in turnout gear, while Mrs. Carlson explained the importance of each item he put on. The students were also able to check out the fire truck in the parking lot afterward!
