SGMS Students Meet U.S. Diplomats in Guatemala

Students in Dr. Rhett Oldham's advisory class at Ste. Genevieve Middle School met diplomats from the U.S. Embassy Guatemala and U.S. Agency for International Development on Friday, March 8, 2019, as part of the Adopt an Embassy program.

The students spoke with USAID Foreign Service Officers about the goals and objectives carried out on behalf of the U.S. government and the impact of those activities in Guatemala. This included discussions on USAID Guatemala’s work promoting democracy and governance, partnering with local and international organizations to achieve development goals, and improving the quality of education for primary school students.

Students will be meeting different members of the Embassy team throughout the school year in order to learn about their mission and what it takes to be a U.S. diplomat.
