The Ste. Genevieve FFA Chapter held their Annual Chapter Banquet on May 11, to recognize the achievements of 2016-2017 members. Twenty members of the chapter received recognition for their proficiency awards, which is the most awards received by the chapter. Out of the twenty proficiency award recipients, twelve went on to receive state recognition for their accomplishments with first place. There were five 2nd place award recipients and three 3rd place recipients. In the fall of 2016, a group of four FFA members competed in the Soil and Water Conservation Grassland Contest. The team earned fourth place at district contest and advanced to state; Evan Grein, Chandra Locke, Camden Roe, Mary Skaggs. At the Area 15 contests the FFA Knowledge team, composed of Katie Chapman, Becca Pfaff, Kyle Naeger and Kaleb Roth earned seventh place. For the Reporter’s Scrapbook, Kyleigh Sulkowski earned sixth place. For the Secretary’s Book, Tyler Rodgers earned second place. The Treasurer’s book, completed by Madilyn Trollinger, received first place. Hannah Chapman earned first place with a Completed Record Book, Tyller Arnold second in Completed Record Book and Kyle Naeger placed 2nd in Beginning Record Book. Halie Kalb took third place in job interview and Charles Finley took sixth in Creed Speaking.

The Ste. Genevieve FFA gave away five scholarships this year. Jorden Hoehn and Halie Kalb received the Dennis P. Flieg Memorial Scholarship. Madilyn Trollinger received the underclassman Leadership Scholarship for FFA trips/conferences. Jorden Hoehn and Tyler Rodgers received the FFA Scholarship.
A degree ceremony was also held to present five FFA members with a State Degree or American degree. Halie Kalb, Gage Moyers, and Tyler Rodgers were presented with their State Degrees on stage at State FFA Convention. These individuals were recognized at the banquet as well, Taylor Arnold and Doug Basler, who earned the very prestigious American degrees, which is the highest degree a member can receive at National Convention in October of 2016.
