Bloomsdale Elementary held an informative parent night about their Leader In Me (LIM) journey on Tuesday, January 23rd. The night began with student Welcome Leaders greeting the parents at the front door. Parents proceeded to the cafeteria for snacks and a presentation by Mrs. Zuspann on why they began the LIM journey, what types of training and activities the teachers, staff, and students have been doing in the past 3 years, as well as the future goals of LIM. The parents proceeded to stations where teachers were explaining the 7 Habits. At the end of the night, the parents reconvened in the cafeteria for door prizes. The parents and teachers had a great time interacting while learning together. NJHS & NHS members from Ste. Genevieve Middle and High School were on hand to help out with children whose parents attended the meeting.
“Leader in Me” is a school-wide process to help students develop leadership skills and discover their unique strengths. It helps teachers find opportunities for every child to shine, to be a leader. “Leadership” is the umbrella term that encompasses many character traits and basic life competencies that parents, business leaders, and educators are voicing as the desired skills necessary to thrive in society. These skills will act as a compass as the students navigate through their life. Bloomsdale Elementary is proud of their progress with the students and how much it is making a difference in the success and lives of the students. The students are finding their voice and displaying leadership skills on a daily basis. It has improved students desire to do better in school and the students know they are valued for their own unique strengths.
