7th Annual Polar Plunge Raises Funding for SG R-II Special Olympics

The seventh annual Ste. Genevieve County Polar Plunge was held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, and this year, the total amount of funds raised was $12,683!

This year, the event was held at the River Rapids Parking Lot, where teams slid down an 18-foot water slide and landed in ice-cold water! A dunking booth and inflatable courses were also available for attendees, as well as a corn hole tournament. To add to the fun, this year’s theme was Twins, where team members, friends and family showed up dressed up as twins!

Eleven Eleven Catering, Kona Ice, Holy Grounds Coffee, and Iron Dogs served food and beverages! We also had several teachers and staff, Board of Education members, families and community members who volunteered to cook or help manage the event. Thank you to our SG family, donors, vendors and volunteers for helping to make this event a success!

The annual Polar Plunge is hosted by the Ste. Genevieve High School FRIENDS organization, and all proceeds sponsor Ste. Genevieve County R-II athletes with developmental disabilities to the Missouri State Games of Special Olympics, as well as other inclusion events, such as Jellybeans and Unified Sports.

We would like to share a special thank you to our Platinum-level sponsors for their contributions of more than $1,000: Ste. Genevieve Middle School, Don Heil Oil Company, and Equipment Pro, Inc.
