Bloomsdale Elementary Holds Annual Career Day

Recently, fifth grade students at Bloomsdale Elementary had the opportunity to visit various local businesses as part of their annual Career Day! Students had the opportunity to meet several local business professionals and organizations; fifteen different careers were represented from a variety of career paths! Some of these included industrial and engineering technology, business management and marketing, veterinary care, health and human services, and conservation.

Mrs. Rowland and the fifth grade faculty and students would like to thank the following local businesses and professionals who took the time to help plan the event: Regan Wengert, owner/Pre-k teacher at Wee World; Dawn Sevier with the Ste. Genevieve County Ambulance District; Luke Fallert and Scott Drury with the Bloomsdale Fire Department; Bridgette Baer with Mid America Rehab; Cara Naeger, owner of the Dew Drop Inn, Kozy Kitchen and Baetje Farms; Cathy Hutcheson and Sherry Hamby-Vance with Bloomsdale Medical Center; Lisa Schwent with Holcim; Chelsea McElmurry with Anheuser Animal Clinic; Elisha Gegg, Chrissy Mueller and Avery Behrle with One Eleven Olive; Mandy Bauman with Bloomsdale Excavating; Jaime Noble with Lemon Theory; Amanda Schwent with Midwest Marketing; Missouri Conservation Department Agent Rob Sulkowski; and Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Finch.

Students learned about becoming an entrepreneur, the process of making and marketing consumer products, learned about the various tools and equipment used by fire departments, EMTs, and sheriffs’ offices, and much more! Thanks to careful planning and collaboration among staff and community members, our students experienced fun, informational sessions about possible careers!

The faculty and students would also like to thank the teachers and bus drivers who kept the students safe throughout the day, and the Bloomsdale Elementary PTO for sponsoring the buses to transport students from each location!
