First grade students at Bloomsdale Elementary participated in a project-based learning project with Counselor Amy Rowland this semester, centered on running a business! Students came up with the idea of launching a bakery. They then applied for positions in their enterprise, including cashier, delivery, sales, decorations, security and clean-up crew. The students in Mrs. Emily Schlueter’s class held a Chocolate Fountain Mountain event on Tuesday, April 2, where they sold sweet treats such as Rice Krispies, strawberries and pound cake. Then, on Thursday, April 4, the students in Mrs. Rebecca Cerutti’s class partnered with Hoeckele Donuts to re-sell the donuts in the students’ Holy Moly Donut Shop. Mrs. Schlueter’s class raised $75, which they donated to the PTO, and Mrs. Cerutti’s class raised $115, which they donated to the American Heart Association.
