Life Skills Class Hosts 4th Annual Thanksgiving Feast

Students in Special Education teacher Kristi Cleghorn’s Life Skills class hosted their 4th Annual Thanksgiving Feast! Each year, her middle school and high school students have the opportunity to invite friends from around the schools to join them for a lunch they prepare and cook.

Beginning in October, the students create a guest list and figure out the amount of ingredients needed for their meal. They then go on a scavenger hunt throughout the grocery store to purchase the items they need. The week of the feast, the students and their teachers and paraprofessionals prepare and cook the meal.

“Our students love this event every year, because they get to spend all day together with their friends from around the school district, cooking and creating this festive atmosphere,” Ms. Kleghorn says. “This year, Mr. Joe Cox’s elementary class joined us in preparing for the event, and we appreciate all of their help in making this event a success!”
