Bloomsdale Elementary participated in an hour of code on Tuesday, December 4th, 2018.  The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to discover "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with 1-hour coding activities but expanding to all sorts of community efforts. All 316 students at BLE coded for one hour.  Pre-K-1st grade used an app named Scratch Jr. and 2nd-5th graders used Forty students who participated in an after school coding club helped lead the event.  They were assisted by students that had been learning coding in their RTI groups and A plus tutors from the high school.  The students partnered with students at each level to guide them in learning to code.  Dr. Flieg, superintendent of Ste. Genevieve R-II, and Mr. Hoehne, Ste. Genevieve High School Principal, came to support the movement.  Students were sent home tools to help them continue coding at home if possible and expand their thinking of what it means to code.
