SGMS Students Compete in Regional National History Day

Several Ste. Genevieve Middle School students traveled to Southeast Missouri State University to compete in the Regional National History Day competition on March 19, 2019.

Students created documentaries, websites, exhibits, academic papers and scripts for performances in Mrs. Rachel McDaniel’s and Dr. Rhett Oldham’s classes. The following students qualified for the State National History Day competition at the University of Missouri - Columbia in April:

  • Individual Performance: Landen Thompson, 3rd place; Braden Huck, 2nd Place
  • Group Performance: Collin Abt, Gavin Huck, Collin Fritsch, and Nolan Walls, 1st Place
  • Group Documentary: Ariella Taylor and Maddie Terry, 3rd place; Tessa Grass and Maya Watts, 2nd Place

“Our students worked extremely hard investigating and researching historical events and people for their projects,” Dr. Oldham says. “Every one of our students who represented SGMS at this event made our school proud, whether or not they placed. Great job to all of our dragons!”
