SG R-II Elementary Schools Launch Ripple of Kindness

Ste. Genevieve Elementary and Bloomsdale Elementary teamed up to host an exciting food drive to demonstrate the chain reaction of good acts! Students brought in full-sized, unopened boxes of cereal. On Friday, March 26, both schools lined the cereal boxes like dominoes through the schools to show how far they could send their “ripple of kindness” through both schools and our community!

One quote the elementary schools shared throughout the past few weeks was by author Scott Adams: “Remember, there is no such thing as a small act of kindness, every act creates a ripple with no logical end.” Through this activity, the buildings saw teamwork, love and an excitement about giving back!

Through the whole project, a total of 1,690 boxes were collected—885 from Bloomsdale Elementary, and 805 from Ste. Genevieve Elementary! Bloomsdale Elementary had each student choose one of their favorite cereal boxes to take home before packing up the bulk of the boxes for local shelters. Ste. Genevieve Elementary donated their boxes to St. Vincent de Paul, Heavenly Hope and the Baptist Church.

At Ste. Genevieve Elementary, fourth grader Harleigh Courtway brought in the most boxes, and Ms. Jenkins’ fourth grade class brought in the most as a group, with over 100 boxes of cereal! At Bloomsdale Elementary, first grader Hadley Lewis, who is in Mrs. Grein’s class, reached out to two businesses, Stemler and Turner Farms, who donated more than 130 cereal boxes. Thank you for your generous contributions!
