Ste. Genevieve County R-II Elementary Students Visit Ste. Genevieve Museum Learning Center

Recently, classes from Ste. Genevieve Elementary and Bloomsdale Elementary visited the Ste. Genevieve Museum Learning Center to learn about dinosaurs and local history!

Their trips included getting to see life-size replicas of prehistoric dinosaurs, such as the most common of the giant sauropods to be found in North America, the Camarasaurus; the duck-billed Edmontosaurus; the sail-backed Dimetrodon; the tube-crested Parasaurolophus; and a life-size Tyrannosaurus Rex skull model! Younger students painted dinosaur suncatchers, and older students participated in a scavenger hunt, where they located various artifacts or displays in the museum. This hunt included learning about the railway transfer boat model, created by Ste. Genevieve native Lewis Pruneau. Some students also had the opportunity to open the safe that Jesse James’ gang famously robbed in Ste. Genevieve, at a bank that was located on the corner next to where Sara’s Ice Cream is today. Though Jesse wasn’t with the gang, the students enjoyed this story! The groups would like to thank the Ste. Genevieve Museum Learning Center for their days full of fun and learning!
