SGHS Emeralds Dance Team Earns Recognitions at UDA Dance Camp

Congratulations to the Emeralds dance team who recently participated in the UDA Dance Camp at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis from July 13 - 15! The group were recognized for their performances at the event and earned a Superior Trophy for their combined ribbon totals!

The dancers performed a “home routine” and earned an “Excellent” ribbon.

The group also learned and performed a “performance routine” and earned a “superior” ribbon, and then learned and performed several other routines and individually earned the following awards:

  • Addison Hanei — 2 superior ribbons

  • Paris Hoy — 2 excellent ribbons

  • Sophie Vogt — 2 superior ribbons

  • Kristen Wittu — 1 superior, 1 excellent ribbon

  • Madison Henson — 1 excellent, 1 outstanding ribbon

  • Sophie Garcia — 2 superior ribbons

  • Olivia Kirchner — 1 superior, 1 excellent ribbon

The team received a Superior Trophy for their combined ribbon totals, and received a "110%" trophy awarded to them by the UDA staff members. Only two out of 22 teams received this recognition, and is bestowed for putting in tremendous effort throughout the entire camp weekend.

The dancers worked from 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. daily on new techniques and new dances.  They were able to attend break-out sessions to learn how to build up their team, and they also participated in nightly team-building activities to set goals for the season.

The camp hosted a CRAZY NIGHT where the dancers had the opportunity to dress up, play different games, and have fun with all of the other teams at the camp.

We would like to share a special recognition to Sophie Vogt for making All American! Sophie spent two days practicing during an extra time and performed in front of the UDA staff. Way to go, Sophie!
