On Dec. 8, 2025, the Speaking Dragons finalists and semifinalists competed at the Missouri East Speech Association (MESA) Finals, bringing home an impressive set of individual and team awards. Eight students advanced to the final round, showcasing strong preparation, confidence and skill across several events.
Duo Interpretation: Sophia Jordan and Emily Merrifield placed 6th, and Ashtyn Neel and Caroline Roth earned 4th.
Lincoln-Douglas Debate: Emily Merrifield advanced to finals and earned 2nd place.
Poetry Reading: Charlotte Mooney earned 3rd place, and Elcie Schweigert earned the Regional Champion title with a 1st-place finish.
Prose Reading: Lucy Hunsley was named Regional Champion with a 1st-place score.
Radio Speaking: Kyler Gugel earned 5th place.
Storytelling: Josie Guilford placed 4th.
As a team, the Ste. Genevieve Speaking Dragons earned 36 points, securing 3rd place in the region. Congratulations to all of our competitors—Go Dragons!
