SGHS World Foods Students Explore Global Cuisine During St. Louis Field Trip

Students in Mrs. Alex Collier’s World Foods class recently took learning beyond the classroom during a field trip across St. Louis, exploring international cuisines and experiencing cultures from around the world.

With St. Louis serving as a rich hub of cultural diversity, students were able to experience a wide range of global traditions and flavors all within a single day trip. Stops included La Bonne Bouchee, Missouri Baking Company, Pete’s Italian Bakery, Favazza’s on The Hill, The Foundry and Global Foods Market.

Through the experience, students discovered how food can reflect the traditions, history and values of different cultures while making connections between classroom lessons and real-world experiences.

The trip provided students with a fun and engaging opportunity to broaden their perspectives while seeing firsthand how food can connect people and communities across the world.
