SGHS Students Experience Culture, Art & City Life During Annual Chicago Trip

Students from Ste. Genevieve High School recently participated in an annual educational trip to Chicago held April 17-19.

French teacher Bre Uzzell and art teacher Jamie Bauman traveled with students from French III, IV and V classes, along with members of the National Art Honor Society, for a weekend focused on culture, art and real-world experiences!

Throughout the trip, students learned how to navigate a major city by using multiple forms of public transportation, including Amtrak, Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) buses and Chicago’s elevated train system.

Students also visited a variety of destinations throughout the city that connected to their coursework and introduced them to new experiences and perspectives. Stops included the Chicago French Market, the Hancock Tower and 360 Chicago experience, Navy Pier, Shedd Aquarium, the Art Institute of Chicago and Cloud Gate, commonly known as “The Bean.” The group also participated in a murder mystery dinner theater experience, adding an interactive and engaging element to the trip.

The annual trip provides students with opportunities to experience art, culture and life in a major city while building independence and creating lasting memories alongside their classmates.
