Ste. Genevieve High School Students Participate in Build My Future Event

Several Ste. Genevieve High School students had the unique opportunity to visit the Build My Future Southeast Missouri event on Oct. 6 at Three Rivers College - Sikeston Campus. Build My Future is a national workforce development initiative to highlight careers in the construction industry through hands-on learning opportunities provided by local employers, educators and skilled trade associations.

About 76 schools throughout Southeast Missouri were invited to attend! Ste. Genevieve High School took 20 students accompanied by Assistant Principal Jami Drury, Counselor Kelly Sulkowski, Automotive Teacher Jeremy Mueller, and Industrial Technology Teacher Kenny Rapp. Students had the opportunity to get involved with interactive displays, such as virtual welding, troweling and finishing concrete slabs, practicing using a mini excavator, and more!

Recognizing the essential role of the construction industry, Missouri Governor Parson recently proclaimed October 2021 to be “Careers in Construction Month.” The Build My Future event was sponsored by the Associated General Contractors of Missouri, and is one of many opportunities this month for students across the state to learn about careers in construction.
