Ste. Genevieve FFA was recently awarded a $250 matching grant from the Missouri FFA and the Missouri Farmers Care Foundation. This grant is designed as a Drive to Feed Kids, and provides FFA chapters an opportunity to address food insecurity and raise awareness. Ste. Genevieve Farm Bureau offered to match the other $250, and the full $500 will be donated to the SG R-II Backpacks for Friday program.
Backpacks for Friday is an initiative that provides basic food staples to 50 needy families. Ste. Genevieve R-II partners with the Southeast Missouri Food Bank to organize the program, which is funded through donations from community organizations, local businesses and residents. These donations are a vital contribution, as these partnerships assist us in the fight against hunger here in our community.
We all know that when our students’ basic needs are met, they can focus on learning and growing into strong, productive, healthier citizens. We want to thank Ste. Genevieve FFA and Ste. Genevieve Farm Bureau for their donations to this program!
