Board Meetings

The Ste. Genevieve County R-II Board of Education typically holds regular meetings on the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. Additionally, the Board may also schedule special meetings, public forums, public hearings and work sessions.

  • Agendas for each meeting are posted on our Ste. Genevieve County R-II BoardDocs site, and public notice of meetings is sent at the same time notices are provided to members of the Board.

  • Meetings are recorded and uploaded to the district’s Youtube Channel, @SGDragonTV, as well as uploaded to our BoardDocs site.

  • Minutes of each meeting are also posted on BoardDocs.

  • In addition to the criteria listed below and per Missouri Sunshine Law, notice of all Board meetings shall be given at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting, exclusive of weekends and holidays when school is closed, unless for good cause such notice is impossible or impractical, in which case as much notice as is reasonably possible shall be given. If the meeting will be conducted by telephone, or by other electronic means, the notice will identify how the meeting will be conducted, as well as instructions explaining how the public may observe.

  • Notices are posted in the district office and in each school building, which are locations that are easily accessible by the public. All interested news media organizations are notified concurrently with members of the Board, upon request, of all meetings of the Board of Education.

Regular (Open) Meetings

The Board of Education holds regular (open) meetings throughout the year to transact such business as deemed necessary for the smooth operation of the school district. Regular meetings are open to the public, and citizens wishing to address the Board may do so at these meetings. Persons who wish to address the Board are requested to fill out a Public Comment Card prior to the start of the Business portion of the meeting and should see the Public Comment Guidelines linked here. Regular (open) meetings are typically held on the third Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. in the Commons Area of Ste. Genevieve High School, unless otherwise noted.

Executive (Closed) Meetings

The Board of Education holds executive (closed) meetings throughout the year. The Board, as a public governmental body, is authorized to close meetings, records and votes for the reasons identified in Section 610.021, RSMo. Executive (closed) meetings are not open to the public and are typically held on the third Tuesday of the month.

Public Forums and Hearings

From time to time, the Board will schedule a public hearing to receive input on matters of concern to the community, such as setting the district's tax rate. The public will be provided notice of such hearings as required by law. Forums and hearings may be scheduled to take place at a designated time within a regular or special meeting or as a separate event.

Special Meetings

Special Board meetings may be held from time to time as circumstances may demand. Each Board member shall be notified of the time, place and purpose of the meeting a reasonable amount of time in advance of the meeting.

Work Sessions

Public Participation at Board Meetings

The Ste. Genevieve County R-II Board of Education welcomes comments from our community. At the beginning of each regular (open) meeting, time is set aside for a public comment period. The following rules will be applied to the public comment portion of the meeting:

  • The public comment period will not exceed 15 minutes.

  • No individual will be permitted to speak more than once during this period.

  • Each speaker will be allotted no more than five minutes.
