The sixth annual Ste. Genevieve County Polar Plunge was held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, and this year, the total amount of funds raised was $21,989.58!
Recent rain forced a change of plans, and the event was moved to Ste. Genevieve High School. Thanks to the Ste. Genevieve Fire Department, our teams and supporters were able to "plunge" into cascading water! Belle on Wheels and Holy Grounds Coffee served food and beverages, and Hill and Dale Garden Club sold S’more Kits for roasting! Thank you to our vendors for helping to make this event a success.
The annual Polar Plunge is hosted by the Ste. Genevieve High School FRIENDS organization, and all proceeds sponsor Ste. Genevieve County R-II athletes with developmental disabilities to the Missouri State Games of Special Olympics, as well as other inclusion events, such as Jellybeans and Unified Sports.
This year’s theme was #SGSurviveThePlunge, based off of the hit show, Survivor. Our students decided on this theme, since this show was one of Andrew Marzuco’s very favorites. Andrew was an SG alumnus, a dependable friend, a good leader, and an amazing individual. He is dearly missed.
We would like to share a special thank you to our Platinum-level sponsors for their contributions of more than $1,000: Ste. Genevieve Middle School, Holcim, Marzuco Electric, Schweiss Holler LLC, Cotton’s Ace Hardware and Lake Forest Estates.
