SGHS Students Recognized with VFW Post 2210 Auxiliary Patriotic Art Awards

The VFW Post 2210 Auxiliary recently announced the winners of The Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest and the 3-Dimensional Patriotic Art Contest.

Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest: First place went to junior Allison McCrory, daughter of Sarah and Jason Hesley. Second place went to junior Ruthie Dunn, daughter of Lori and Mike Dunn. Third place went to senior Hannah Woodruff, daughter of Jennifer Zerwig.

3-Dimensional Patriotic Art Contest: First place went to junior Mallory Rottler, daughter of Maria and Wade Rottler.

Both scholarship contests recognize young artists and encourage patriotism in youth. Entries are judged on originality of concept, presentation and patriotism expressed, content of how it relates to patriotism and clarity of ideas, design techniques, and the total impact of work. Congratulations to these students on their recognition.

All four students are under the instruction of art teacher Jamie Bauman at Ste. Genevieve High School. Each of the students received a cash prize, and the two first-place entries—Allison McCrory and Mallory Rottler—advanced to state-level competition!
