Students Win Local VFW Auxiliary Contests

Recently, Ste. Genevieve High School students were recognized with awards for contests sponsored by the local VFW Auxiliary 2210! Congratulations to the following students on their recognitions:

Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest:

  • 1st Place: Caroline Roth, 11th — daughter of Katie and Derek Roth

  • 2nd Place: Camille Melahn, 11th — daughter of Rachel and Nick Melahn

  • 3rd Place: Kaitlyn Jarvis, 11th — daughter of Brandy and Jeremy Henderson

3-Dimensional Patriotic Art Contest:

  • 1st Place: Alivia Bays, 12th — daughter of Ashley Fritschle and Paul Bays

  • 2nd Place: Levi Sutton, 12th — son of Jason Sutton and Brenda Higginbotham

Both scholarship contests recognize young artists and encourage patriotism in youth. Entries are judged on originality of concept, presentation and patriotism expressed, content of how it relates to patriotism and clarity of ideas, design techniques, and the total impact of work. All four students are under the instruction of art teacher Jamie Bauman at Ste. Genevieve High School. Each of the students received a cash prize, and for their first-place entries, Alivia Bays and Caroline Roth will advance to the state-level competition!
