SGHS FCA & STU-CO Raise Donations for Transport for Haitian Children with Disabilities

The Ste. Genevieve High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Student Council recently co-sponsored a Hat Day to raise donations to help fund a TukTuk at the Maison de Benediction in Cap Haitien, Haiti. The student groups are excited to share that a total of $573 was collected to purchase this TukTuk, which is a motorized, three-wheeled taxi. In Haiti, families with children with disabilities are often left at the side of the road to wait after being rejected for transport due to the child’s disability. Many are overcharged when they do find transport and often face verbal abuse. We are happy to be able to contribute to the purchase of a TukTuk as a transport service that will initially support the nine foster families who have some of the children with the most profound disabilities. The students and staff would like to thank everyone for showing their spirit and for being the change we want to see in the world! #showyourschoolspirit #bethechange
