SGHS Celebrates Academic Achievements at Annual Dan Clark Honors Ceremony

On Tuesday, April 27, Ste. Genevieve High School celebrated its students’ academic honors for the 2020-2021 school year at the 31st  annual Dan Clark Honors Ceremony at the Performing Arts Center.

At this year’s event, junior Paige Huck gave the invocation, and senior Annie Yang began the ceremony by playing a musical piece on the piano: “Reverie” by Claude Debussy. Then, the guest speaker for the evening was introduced, Dr. Allison Davault, a 2009 alumna of Ste. Genevieve High School, and a graduate of the St. Louis College of Pharmacy. While at SGHS, Dr. Davault was a student-athlete, participating in both the state-qualifying track and volleyball teams, and involved in student organizations, such as Student Council and National Honor Society. She graduated magna cum laude from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy in 2015 with a Doctorate in Pharmacy. In 2016, she moved back to Ste. Genevieve, and recently took a full-time staff position at Ste. Genevieve Pharmacy. She spoke to students on how to handle themselves when faced with setbacks in schooling, or in life in general—using the “improvise, adapt and overcome” approach. She emphasized the importance of a support system and striving to keep a positive attitude when working through a problem, while always keeping your goals in mind.

Each year at the banquet, the students in the top 10 percent of each class are recognized. Following the class honors, one student is awarded for his or her performance for each course offered at the high school. Congratulations to all of the students on their recognitions!
