Ste. Genevieve Elementary Students Win Local VFW Auxiliary Contests

Recently, two Ste. Genevieve Elementary students were recognized with awards for contests sponsored by the local VFW Auxiliary 2210!

Ste. Genevieve Elementary fourth grade student Sydney Nesslein won first place in the “Get Excited for the Red, White, and Blue” singing contest! The contest was open to youth 6 - 16 years of age, and participants were asked to create a video of themselves singing the National Anthem. In music teacher Lacey Bauman’s class, the students learned the “Star Spangled Banner”. Mrs. Bauman introduced the contest to her students, explaining how to submit a video. Sydney received a $25 prize, and her video submission will be sent to the district level for a second chance to win an additional prize.

Ste. Genevieve Elementary fourth grade student Blayre Bauman won first place in the “Illustrating America” art contest, also sponsored by the VGW Auxiliary 2210. Blayre received $25 for her winning entry, and her artwork will be displayed in the art show! All third, fourth and fifth grade students in art teacher Michael Cook’s classes participated in the contest, with some students entering multiple works of art! This is the second year his classes have participated in the “Illustrating America” contest.

Congratulations to these students on their recognition in these recognitions!
