Sydney Grace Eisenbeis of Bloomsdale has been selected to attend American Legion Auxiliary Missouri Girls State. She was a student at Ste. Genevieve High School. Eisenbeis will study levels of government in this nonpartisan political learning experience. Every spring, the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State Program provides approximately 25,000 young women with a hands-on educational opportunity designed to instruct tomorrow’s leaders in the privileges and duties of responsible citizenship. Missouri Girls State will be held on June 20-June 26, 2021 at the University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg.
Delegates are assigned to a mythical political party. They then campaign, hold rallies, debate and ultimately vote to elect city, county and state officials. Once elected to office, delegates are sworn in and perform their prescribed duties. Citizens may also become involved in city activities, newspaper, broadcast news, music band and chorus, General Assembly, Girls State Highway Patrol and college credit.
“It is an honor to be selected to attend Missouri Girls State, and I am looking forward to the educational opportunity,” said Eisenbeis, Girls State Delegate.
Staff for Missouri Girls State is comprised of ALA members, former citizens, college personnel and experts in the community and business sectors. Eligibility membership in the American Legion Auxiliary will be explained during the session.
Two outstanding citizens are selected at each of the 50 Girls State sessions held across the country to represent their state as senators at American Legion Auxiliary Girls Nation held in Washington, D.C. in July.
Founded in 1919, the American Legion Auxiliary is the world’s largest patriotic women’s service organization.
