Ste. Genevieve R-II Celebrates 2021 Homecoming

This week, Ste. Genevieve R-II celebrated its 2021 Homecoming! Monday through Friday, the schools held dress-up days, cheered on our sports teams and celebrated with our community in the Homecoming parade! 

After Spirit Night on Wednesday, students cheered on our junior and senior girls during the annual Powderpuff game, which ended with a score of 26-14 in favor of the seniors. The girls and their coaches showed great sportsmanship throughout the evening!

During the high school pep assembly Friday afternoon, Austin McBride, son of Carissa and Joshua McBride, was crowned the Ste. Genevieve High School’s 2021 homecoming king. Other members of the court were: freshman attendant Charlie Corbett, sophomore attendant Nathan Johnson, junior attendant Aiden Trollinger, king candidate Zach Boyer, king candidate Kaden Buatte, king candidate Carter Klump, king candidate Thomas O’Brien, and king candidate Klayton Squires.

Ste. Genevieve High School took on Perryville High School for a 61-7 win on Friday night! Isabel Basler, daughter of Paul and Katy Basler, was crowned the Ste. Genevieve High School’s 2021 homecoming queen during the coronation ceremony at halftime. Other members of the court were: freshman attendant Olivia Klump, sophomore attendant Alissa Grass, junior attendant Dru Koetting, queen candidate Elizabeth Basler; queen candidate Haley Clanton; queen candidate Haley DiMercurio; queen candidate Paige Huck; and queen candidate Abigail Moore. Congratulations to all of the members of the Homecoming Court!

This year, Lilly Schwent and Tucker Weik were the miniature cheerleader and football player at the game. Also during halftime, the Ste. Genevieve High School Band presented a selection from its 2021 show, The Music of Queen!

The winners of the week’s various competitions were also recognized during the game. The freshmen class was awarded the Most Spirited during Friday’s pep assembly. The winners of the float competition were: 1) seniors, 2) freshmen, 3rd: sophomores and 4) juniors. The winners of the hallway decorating contest were: 1) sophomores, 2) juniors, 3) seniors, and 4) freshmen. Congratulations to all of the classes for a job well done!

The week’s festivities will conclude with the Homecoming Dance, to be held in the Peggy J. Johnson Gymnasium on Saturday night.

The Student Council would like to extend a special thanks to the high school faculty, the Marching Dragons, the Color Guard, the cheerleaders, the Emeralds and the student body for their terrific efforts in making this homecoming a success. A special thank-you to the cheerleaders and their sponsors Coach Wehner and Coach Dallas for all of their spirit ideas and activities during this week and for a great job at today’s pep assembly. Also, a thank you to Faith Lincoln, Tessa Grass, Mr. Roth and Dr. Boyd for a great job hosting the spirit rally Wednesday evening. Thank you to Dr. Boyd, Dr. Nix, and Mrs. Drury, for all of the time and patience they put into planning the past few weeks. Thanks to all of the judges—they did a terrific job! Thank you to Mrs. Kingery and the publications staff, Brynna Wehner and Ms. Otto for all they’ve done with videos, pictures and press releases.
