The fifth annual Ste. Genevieve County Polar Plunge was held on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at the Lake Forest Estates Marina, and this year, the current total fundraised was $15,272.85! All proceeds sponsor Ste. Genevieve R-II athletes with developmental disabilities to the Missouri State Games of Special Olympics, as well as other inclusion events, such as Jellybeans and Unified Sports. The event was hosted by the Ste. Genevieve County Community Center and the Ste. Genevieve High School FRIENDS organization.
The theme this year was #SGMaskedPlunger, inspired by the TV series, the Masked Singer. Teams were encouraged to wear costumes to the event! Teams registered to take the plunge and have their sponsorship added to the t-shirt.
We would like to share a special thank you to LafargeHolcim for being our Platinum sponsor and donating more than $1,000. We would also like to thank all of our teams who worked so hard to raise money and then took the plunge for our students!
Daniel Burnett with the West County EMS & Fire offered cold water rescue, a service he has been kind enough to provide for the last few events. Musthave Macarons and Holy Grounds Coffee served delicious treats and beverages! Heated changing tents were supplied by Cotton’s Ace Hardware and Marzuco Electric. The FRIENDS Club provided hot dogs and s’mores for roasting! Thank you to all of our sponsors, teams, and supporters for this year’s event!
