French I Classes Take Walking Tour of Historic Homes

The French 1 classes at SGMS and SGHS, led by Mrs. Bre Uzzell, went on a walking tour of historic homes throughout downtown Ste. Genevieve on April 12. The students learned about both Spanish and French occupation of the Louisiana Territory (of which Ste Genevieve is a part), as well as the poteau-sur-solle (posts on a sill) architecture that is exemplified at the Louis Bolduc National Historic Site. Students also viewed the Bolduc-LeMeilleur home and the exterior of the Jean-Baptise Vallé House before heading to Common Grounds to eat a French food-themed lunch. The classes would like to share a thank you to Pam Billings and all the wonderful workers there for making everyone feel so at home!
