The Southeast Missouri Local Area of Special Educators recently awarded four $250 grants to special education teachers in the Southeast region. Ste. Genevieve County R-II’s very own Cheryl Berkbigler, special education teacher at Bloomsdale Elementary, submitted an entry for materials to assist students in practicing and applying their phonics skills. Cheryl is one of fourteen instructional staff at the district participating in Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) to master the fundamentals of reading instruction. Congratulations to Cheryl on being chosen to receive this grant!
