We are incredibly excited to announce that our own SGHS Principal Dr. John Boyd, Jr. was surprised when he was recognized as the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals (MOASSP) Southeast Region High School Principal of the Year! Dr. Seth Harrell, MOASSP Southeast District President, presented Dr. Boyd with his award. Student members of Dr. Boyd’s Principal Advisory Group, as well as high school teachers and staff and district administrators, attended the surprise to share congratulations.
“Throughout discussions and planning, Dr. Boyd can be counted on to delve into new ways to solve problems our districts face,” Dr. Harrell said. “He is a huge contributor to principals in the area, and his peers speak highly of him. Dr. Boyd’s approach to education is consistently centered around getting better. We are happy to be able to recognize his contributions in this way.”
This is Dr. Boyd’s first year serving as principal of SGHS. Prior to this position, he was the SGHS assistant principal for three years.
