SGMS Students Participate in Summer Band Camp

Congratulations to the following SGMS Band students who participated in the Mineral Area Fine Arts Academy 2022 Summer Band Camp!

The SGMS Band would like to thank our generous local organizations that provided scholarships to SGMS band students to attend this band camp. The GFWC Woman’s Club of Ste. Genevieve awarded a scholarship to 7th graders Aaliyah Rosenzweig. The Genevieve County R-II Band Boosters provided four scholarships to 8th graders Destin Conner, Parker Warren, Riyley Dutton, and Kyler Gugel.

Students participated in daily music rehearsal with other students from surrounding area schools. The camp concluded with a concert conducted by Mrs. Linda Huck and Mrs. Amanda Dement on the campus of Mineral Area College in Park Hills, MO.

Any local organization or business interested in sponsoring a SGMS student to MAFAA Band Camp in the summer of 2023, please contact SGMS Band Director Mrs. Lindsey Elders at or (573)-883-4500 ext. 2339.

This summer band camp was organized by the new Mineral Area Fine Arts Academy, which is a non-for-profit whose mission is “...that students of all ages, abilities, and socio-economic levels now have the opportunity to study the arts under the tutelage of some of the area’s finest educators.” The academy offers an incredibly wide range of musical and theatrical opportunities for people of all ages.
