Fifth grade students at Ste. Genevieve Elementary had the opportunity to visit various local businesses as part of their annual Career Day on Friday, Oct. 20, which was sponsored by the Parent Teacher Organization.
Counselors Mrs. Greminger and the fifth grade faculty and students would like to thank the following local businesses and professionals who hosted Career Day! The fifth grade students at Ste. Genevieve Elementary had a great day exploring our community. Students were able to experience what it would be like as a professional in each of these careers.
All students visited the Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital to learn about healthy eating from a dietician, proper handwashing, how to take care of a newborn baby, and more! For lunch, the fifth grade classes headed to Sirro’s where they ate and were given a presentation by staff. During the afternoon, all classes also had the opportunity to visit the Ste. Genevieve County Courthouse, where they learned about the various positions, including Circuit Clerk, County Assessor, Prosecuting Attorney, and Judge.
The students also broke out into smaller groups to visit local businesses, including: Belle Ever After Boutique, U.S. Bank, Treasured Memories, the Ste. Genevieve Museum, Harold’s Famous Bee Co., and the Honey Bar. In all businesses, students toured the facility and learned about those career paths, including which involved college readiness, and which involved various trainings. Each business offered a variety of hands-on learning activities for the students!
The faculty and students would also like to thank the teachers and bus drivers who kept the students safe throughout the day! The Parent Teacher Organization sponsored the buses to transport students from each location. Thanks to careful planning and collaboration among staff and community members, our students experienced fun, informational explorations into possible careers!
