Three of our SG R-II robotics teams have earned a spot at the State Championship in the VEX Robotics Competition March 7, 2026, in St. Louis! These students are below:

Solar Flare — Ste. Genevieve Middle School

  • Tess Richardson (6th)

  • Chase Donze (7th)

  • Vivian Mitchell (6th)

  • Laura Ann Woods (7th)

Techno Bots — Ste. Genevieve Elementary (First year team)

  • Owen Rayoum (4th)

  • Ayden Wehner (4th)

  • Oliver Kersting (4th)

Big Robofeet — Ste. Genevieve Middle School

  • Collin Gegg (7th)

  • Micah Kertz (7th)

  • Miles Ditch (7th)

  • Harrison Weibrecht (7th)

Advancing to state requires months of engineering design, strategic problem-solving, iterative testing and strong performance in both robot skills challenges and alliance tournament play. Teams must also document their process in detailed engineering notebooks and demonstrate collaboration and professionalism during judging interviews.

The VEX Robotics Competition challenges students to design, build and program robots to complete complex game-based tasks alongside other teams. Throughout the season, students develop critical skills in coding, mechanical design, project management, teamwork, communication and resilience. They learn to analyze data, refine prototypes and adapt strategies under competitive pressure—mirroring real-world engineering practices.

Earning a place at the State Championship reflects not only technical excellence but also perseverance, innovation and a commitment to continuous improvement. These teams represent the very best of student-driven achievement and will now compete among the top robotics programs in the state.
