Ste. Genevieve R-II Students Shine at Special Olympics

Congratulations to our Olympians who participated in the Southeast Missouri Special Olympic Games on Saturday, May 1, at Cape Central High School! Our team has participated in the Special Olympics for three years, and has qualified for state every year!

“Our athletes have been working hard despite the cancelations and challenges they've faced in the past two years due to the tornado in Columbia and Covid-19,” Special Olympics Teacher and Head Coach Kristi Cleghorn says. “They showed how hard they continued to work with all the medals they brought home this week! I am so proud of them and can't wait to see how they perform at North County for the MAAA competition and at the State Games in a few weeks!”

The event is for students ages 8 and up, and more than 15 groups from 14 counties participated. Every Ste. Genevieve R-II student qualified for state! Check out their accomplishments in the events below!
